  • Counselling for PTSD at 96 Harley Psychotherapy

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is a common outcome of being in a situation in which we were terrified to such an extent that our coping mechanisms were overwhelmed. It is a condition that can follow on from exposure to war zones, involvement in accidents or terror attacks. It can also result from growing up in an environment in which the adults responsible for us were not able to take care of us properly - such as alcoholic or otherwise dysfunctional homes.

At 96 Harley Psychotherapy, our practitioners are skilled in recognising the thinking and behaviours that accompany this syndrome and can help you replace the inappropriate "fight or flight" reflex with more functional responses in non-threatening situations.
